The Quiltbox Sessions

Dan and Ronnie met in Chicago while playing in a very loud, very large, extremely fun band (Mucca Pazza), and decided to go make a gentle, cozy album together in a house full of quilts in Kentucky. Over the course of several days with a 1919 Steinway and the invaluable help of producer & engineer Daniel Martin Moore, they played around with some of their favorite melodies, recorded their own and each others’ compositions, and improvised and improved on each others’ ideas. The result is this mostly pianocentric and lovely collection of duets and solos. The Quiltbox Sessions draws from Bach and Prokofiev, impressionism and Brazilian choro, and the peaceful warmth of a Kentucky summer’s afternoon.
